We're Done Dealing With Tapes
I own a chain of small grocery stores. We were using VCRs for surveillance recording, but they were a constant hassle—and it was always some kind of tape problem. Changing tapes, checking to see if the tape was still recording, cleaning the tape heads. I wasn't confident in my system. I told my security dealer I was tired of dealing with tapes, and he told me about Kalatel's new DSR-2000e, a digital recorder that's designed to replace a VCR. He said all we had to do was plug in a DSR where our VCR was. We wouldn't have to change anything else, and we'd get better performance. And no tapes. So we bought one, and the switch to digital was easy. The DSR looks just like a VCR, and it operates the same. It records at the same speeds our VCR did, and it connects to our existing multiplexer. And it's not PC-based like other digital recorders, so we didn't need any new equipment. We just plugged in the DSR and let it go to work. I don't have to check on it, and my employees are happy to be done dealing with tapes.
